Lion Sands River Lodge Damaged by Fire
Lions Sands River Lodge was damaged by fire during the early morning of 21 June 2017, destroying the public areas. The cause of the fire, as confirmed by a forensic fire inspector, was due to an ember passing out of the chimney and lighting the thatch.
Fortunately, no-one was hurt in the blaze and the reserve has not been affected, however, the lodge will be closed until 28 February 2018 for a complete rebuild of the damaged buildings. All affected bookings have been or will be contacted.
Lion Sands Ivory, Tinga and Narina Lodges are operating normally and any confirmed Treehouse bookings at either Chalkley’s or Kingston will operate as per normal.
