Once again, we have good news to share with you. After a slight delay, the Government has now announced that Namibia is opening up her borders to tourism, which will begin on Tuesday, 01 September 2020.
The basic rules for the Tourism Revival Initiative are as follows:
° In terms of entry requirements, entry to the country will only be allowed via Hosea Kutako International Airport.
° All travellers must present a negative PCR test result, not older than 72 hours before boarding the plane and to be allowed to enter Namibia.
° All travellers must complete an epidemiological questionnaire, which is to be handed in to the health staff on ground at the airport.
° All travellers will be required to stay for 7 days at their first tourist facility of booking and can partake in all normal activities. The travellers must proceed directly to their first accommodation from the airport and no overnight or stopovers are permitted.
° Naankuse Lodge as well as Naankuse@Utopia have received approval to stay over for the 7 days. We have developed special nightly rates to cover self-catering or full board options.
° On day 5/6 the traveller is to be re-tested. At Naankuse we have an on-site doctor who will be assisting with the testing at an additional cost. For guests staying at Naankuse@Utopia applicable paperwork will be made available, but it will be the guest’s own responsibility to get tested at the private laboratory, Pathcare in Windhoek and a test costs around N$ 850,00 per test.
° Test results will be shared on day 7, after which travllers will be permitted to travel onwards if results are negative. If results are positive, they will need to stay in a government isolation facility at own expense.
° The great news is that Naankuse Lodge & Naankuse@Utopia are government registered isolation facilities and so any such isolation period can be done at Naankuse or Utopia.
° Should any medical care be needed we will arrange access to the best medical facilities in Namibia.
