South Africa: Cape Town Japanese street food Ramenhead

Chef Peter Templehoff brings Japanese street-food to Cape Town with Ramenhead

Located just downstairs from its sister restaurant FYN, one of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants, at Speakers Corner in the city center, Ramenhead offers diners handmade noodles and the most authentic broth this side of Japan.

Led by chefs Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss – who went on a ramen-tasting odyssey through Osaka and Tokyo ahead of the opening – Ramenhead is a casual-cool, indoor-outdoor kitchen and bar (with interiors by award-winning designer Tristan du Plessis), complete with a noodle lab of white-coated production chefs manning the African continent’s only Yamamoto Noodle Machine.

The menu features Japanese snacks like fried chicken karaage and gyoza dumplings and a curated selection of wines, beers and cocktails. The street-food-inspired eatery is now open for lunch and dinner.
