One person died in a fatal accident behind Dune 7 at Walvis Bay on 30 December 2023 in the afternoon.
Marshall Ranger Sean Naude says he received a call about the accident while at another event.
“We were on standby at the Weskus Vasbyt when someone told us a vehicle had rolled in the dunes.
“We rushed there and tried our best to assist, but sadly a young lady in the vehicle had succumbed to her injuries,” Naude says.
He says they extracted the remaining occupants from the vehicle, who were transported to hospital by E-Med Rescue and St Gabriel’s ambulance service.
Naude cautions against driving in the dunes as they often change.
“If you don’t know what you’re doing it is easy to lose control or go off a blind dune,” he says.
The Namibian has reached out to Erongo police spokesperson inspector Ileni Shapumba, who says he is yet to release a full report on the incident.
