Sun International & Minor Hotel Group - update on the transition of services
In 2014, Sun International sold a stake in six of our African operations to the Minor Hotel Group (MHG). Since then, five of the hotels have been rebranded to the AVANI brand. These include the AVANI Victoria Falls Resort, AVANI Gaborone Resort & Casino, AVANI Lesotho Hotel & Casino, AVANI Maseru Hotel, and AVANI Windhoek Hotel & Casino. The Royal Livingstone Resort has not been rebranded, but is now being marketed through Anantara’s distribution channels.
Since taking control of these properties, the MHG team has taken on a growing role in running and managing the operations and is well positioned to continue to grow the portfolio into the future.
As a natural next step in this process, MHG and Sun International have agreed that all marketing, sales, reservations, systems and memberships will be migrated to MHG. MHG is already committed to building a team based in Johannesburg and we are confident that they have the skills and resources to take on these responsibilities.
The property system migration will take place from mid April 2016, starting with the properties in Lesotho and rolling out to the other hotels over a period of approximately six weeks.
This is an exciting next step in the growth and development of the African properties. Thank you to everyone involved in this project, and to all Sun International and MHG employees, as well as our travel partners for your patience and co-operation as we make this change.
