Tanzania: Doffa Bike Shop is Open for Business | Велосипеды Доффа Танзания

Doffa Bike Shop is Open for Business in Tanzania!

Our Bike Shop Program empowers local communities through social and economic mobility - allowing health care workers to see more patients, students to make the journey to school and families to carry more goods to and from home.

Doffa Bike Shop, now open in Karatu, employs four women who have gone through training to become bike mechanics and operate their own business enterprise. Through this female-driven model, the women learn new skills, earn their own income and help break the social construct of gender. What makes Doffa Bike Shop so unique is that all the women employed at the shop are living with HIV. With gender inequality and stigma still major barriers to HIV prevention, the bike shop aims to empower these women to fight the stigma of HIV and fight discrimination.

Guests can visit the Doffa Bike Shop while staying at Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp.
