South Africa: Mfulawozi Wilderness Private Game Reserve joins Inspirational Places

UPGRADED MFULAWOZI WILDERNESS PRIVATE GAME RESERVE

Joins the Inspirational Places Portfolio

mFulawozi Wilderness, home to Biyela and Mthembu Lodges, is back under the management of the founders, Barry and Sonya Theunissen.

Both lodges, which are off the grid, are nestled on the banks of the White iMfolozi River. They lie in the heart of Zululand just two and a half hours from Durban.

The various Zulu chiefs of mFulaWozi have agreed to unlock 16 000 hectares of untouched African bushveld. A total of 6000 hectares have already been incorporated into the Hluhluwe iMfolozi Park increasing the total size of this park to over 100 000 hectares. This Big 5 game reserve is one of the most important conservations areas in South Africa.

This initiative unlocks the tourist appeal of the rich culture, history and biodiversity of the land. It is a wilderness area that embodies the spirit of the Zulu nation. It is here that you can walk in the footsteps of military genius King Shaka Zulu and visionary conservationist Dr. Ian Player.

BIYELA LODGE

This five-star luxury lodge has recently reopened its doors bringing an oasis of privacy and eco-luxury that few have ever experienced.

The twelve suites are styled on a modern apothecary theme and a fusion of ideas, an expression of the magnificent environment surrounding it. The lodge is built into the hillside of this piece of untouched mFulaWozi Wilderness, perfectly positioned to maximise the sweeping views of the imposing flood plains of the White iMfolozi River below.

MTHEMBU LODGE

This lodge offers a sensual, quiet and naturally elegant definition of space. It combines fresh innovative design and stylish African touches with a wealth of natural materials such as earthy woods, leather and brass. It is here you can realise the experience of watching wildlife up close.

There are seven luxury one-bedroom suites and two luxury family suites that all command magnificent views of the unsurpassed wilderness.
