The temporary closure of Skukuza Airport has been extended until 31 January 2014. Due to recent rains in the area work on the resurfacing and extension of the tarmac have been disrupted. Runway improvements could therefore not be completed in time for the scheduled re-opening on 13 December 2013.
During this period Federal Air will re-direct to alternative airstrips/ airports, where guests will be met by their respective lodges. This will not impact the guest experience and not result in any additional charges.
Lion Sands (All Lodges) – All arrivals and departures at the Sabi Sabi runway
Rhino Walking Safaris – No Federal Airlines service during this period, guests will be accommodated via Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport
Kirkman’s Kamp – All Johannesburg arrivals and departures as well as inter-lodge transfers at the Mala Mala runway
Notten’s Bush Camp – All arrivals and departures at the Sabi Sabi runway
Jock Safari Camp – All Johannesburg arrivals and departures at the Malelane runway.
