Namibia: rain damages in Uis

One of Uis’ prides - the three kilometre tarred road that links downtown with "upper Uis" - was seriously damaged during recent rains. Approximately 20 metres in length, and two thirds the breadth of the road were destroyed at a place where a major tributary crosses it. Uis Chief Administrating Officer, Amingo Honneb told The Namibian that the Roads Authority has already issued out a tender for the reconstruction of the road. “We had two choices: a quick patch-up, or a decent repair. We opted for the latter, even thoughit may take a little longer, at least it will be a decent job to restore our lovely tarred road that we are so proud of,” he said. Motorists are warned to drive carefully when passing the damaged section.
