Namibia: Westair Aviation newsletter | Вестэйр Намибия

WESTAIR AVIATION NEWSLETTER

Dear Partners and friends,

By introduction my name is Marco Theron, I am a pilot by profession, but I am very passionate about the travel and tourism sector, and I will be responsible for our service in the tourism charter sector and for our newly launched “FlyNamibia Safari” schedule.

Since Westair Aviation’s inception in 1967, we have endured many periods of instability, uncertainty, and changes. Our core value is to always be positive in taking on these challenges and today we again find ourselves at a point in time where we are fortunate enough to say that we have made some changes and that we are heading along a new positive path.

Prior to the Covid – 19 pandemic our company’s prospects included the first Namibian privately owned scheduled passenger airline “FlyWestair”, various contracts across the African continent and we were also actively involved in servicing the aviation sector in Namibia.

Over the past 24 months many things have changed; most notably in our travel and tourism sector. We find ourselves today at a place where the transport infrastructure servicing the travel and tourism market has been severely impacted. This resulted in limited options available to put together cost effective and attractive itineraries that will lead to the recovery of the travel and tourism sector.

Welcome to 2022:

With the focus on leading the recovery of the travel and tourism sector in Namibia, Westair Aviation has embarked on a strategy that fills the gaps in our transport infrastructure but also provides new options for putting together itineraries that provides flexibility and value. We have rebranded our scheduled passenger service from “FlyWestair” to “FlyNamibia”. With this rebranding we have launched a safari schedule linking tourism hubs – Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Etosha and Twyfelfontein with daily flights to and from Windhoek.

This offering will make travel by air safer, faster, and cheaper than ever before in Namibia. We have set up a network between the classic tourist destinations and to further expand the network, we will connect with other local operators in the areas. The FlyNamibia Safari schedule will create new opportunities and possibilities for tourists with flexibility and options. This product also creates an opportunity for the local and Southern African market to explore local regions and their own country before going on an island holiday.

In our charter offering there has also been some changes. Most notably is that Westair Aviation has made the decision to move out of the piston aircraft market. This decision comes at the back of the FlyNamibia Safari schedule where we have launched a cost effective, flexible alternative for smaller groups to travel Namibia. We have also established strategic partnerships with other operators that share our safety and quality standards to continue offering piston aircraft although it will not be operated by Westair Aviation.

It’s been a hard decision to move away from the piston aircraft. But it is time to look to the future, and our future lies with the turbine and jet aircraft. Westair Aviation is still fully committed to servicing the sector and we have grown our Cessna Caravan fleet to five aircraft. One of which is a 2021 model with an 8 seat VIP interior, perfect for your high-end clients. We have also added luxury twin turbine options such as the King Air 350 and the Beechcraft 1900D. For your corporate clients traveling across the wider Africa, we also have a midsize Learjet 45 available. I must mention again, FlyNamibia Safari is bringing the perfect opportunity to the market for tourism recovery.

We hereby want to assure you that Westair Aviation is growing, we are continuously looking for new opportunities and we are committed to providing a safe and reliable air transport service.

We look forward to working with you during 2022.

Sincerely

Marco Theron
