Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe: a lunar rainbow | Водопад Виктория, Зимбабве: лунная радуга

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe: a lunar rainbow or a moonbow, observed within 2 days of the full moon. Since the lunar rainbows are much fainter than the daytime ones, long-time camera exposure is required to capture a photograph

Водопад Виктория, Зимбабве: лунная радуга, наблюдаемая в течение 2 дней после полнолуния. Поскольку лунные радуги намного слабее дневных, для получения такой фотографии требуется длительная выдержка камеры.

Victoria Falls: Harare tourist fell to his death into the falls | Несчастный случай на Водопаде Виктория

Harare

A rescue team using inflatable boats, kayaks and ropes has finally retrieved the body of a 40-year-old Harare man who plunged to his death at Victoria Falls on New Year’s day.

Photographs showing Roy Dikinya’s final moments have been widely shared on social media:

Dikinya is seen walking in flip flops along the edge of the gorge, at a place known as Danger Point, moments before slipped and died.

The tourist is reported to have slipped and fallen more than 100 metres down into the gorge on New Year’s Day. Efforts to locate the body were hampered by rain and heavy water flow in the Zambezi River.

Zimbabwe state media informed that a joint team comprising police, parks rangers and volunteers took more than 6 hours to retrieve Dikinya’s remains on Tuesday afternoon of 05 January 2021.

A South African tourist slipped and died at Victoria Falls on 2005 New Year’s Eve, the last known similar accident in the area.

Zambia: Victoria Falls Devil's Pool and Angel's Pool | Водопад Виктория

Devil's Pool at Livingstone Island closed for the season - but Angel's Pool still welcomes guests!

Devil's Pool at Livingstone Island, Zambia, has closed for the season due to the recent rise in water levels. But Angels Pool is still open for those still wanting to be blown away.

Devil’s Pool was closed on the 5th Jan 2021. From 6th Jan 202 it will once again be Angel’s Pool’s chance to shine.

This natural infinity pool on the precipice of the Victoria Falls is a popular attraction for tourists visiting the region, however it is only available during low water periods. Guests visiting Livingstone Island may take a dip in Angel's Pool as an alternative, which is just as close to the edge and equally as thrilling.
