Десять человек погибли при взрыве бензовоза в Южной Африке

В Южноафриканской республике погибли по меньшей мере десять человек из-за взрыва бензовоза. Танкер газовоз, перевозивший более 60 тыс. литров сжиженного газа, застрял утром под мостом недалеко от больницы и жилых домов. По данным экстренных служб, взорвавшийся бензовоз застрял под мостом, водитель попытался выехать из-под моста, произошло разрушение цистерны, после чего грузовик загорелся. Он взорвался, когда пожарные приехали тушить возгорание. Мост, под которым застряла машина, полностью разрушен, часть крыши больницы, находящейся неподалеку, обрушилась.

Из 40 раненых 19 находятся в критическом состоянии, в то время как еще 15 человек серьезно ранены, но находятся в стабильном состоянии. Одним из пострадавших является водитель, который доставлен в больницу.

Severe bush fires in Namibia | Пожары в саванне Намибии

Severe bush fires are destroying vast swathes of grazing land in farming areas in the central and northern areas of Namibia.

Farmers in the area between Kalkfeld and Otjiwarongo have been battling a fire for a several days during daylight until sunset, they still could not get the fire under control.

A bushfire started in the area of Summerdown to the northeast of Okahandja mere days after another fire burned to ashes most of the grazing on several farms between Ovitoto and Hochfeld.

Both of those fires were eventually brought under control.

Further north, sporadic fires in the Oshikoto, Kavango East, and Zambezi regions are also causing the destruction of grazing in the communal farming areas.

The huge bush fire at Kalkfeld was further inflamed by strong winds, making it difficult for desperate farmers and the many volunteers assisting them to extinguish or control the flames.

The winds are also constantly changing direction, which means fire fighting teams are unable to effectively make fire roads in certain areas of the bush.

A tour trailer bus - overland rolling hotel, of a German tourism group Rotel, caught fire in the morning of 08 November 2019 on its way to the coastal town Swakopmund from Sossusvlei dune area.

All tourists travelling in the bus were able to escape accident unhurt but all their belongings were destroyed together with the tour vehicle.

A firefighting team was dispatched from one of the nearby farms but by the time the volunteers arrived on the scene nothing more could be done to save the rolling hotel.

The tour bus with its trailer hotel belonging to Rotel Tours caught fire on the C14 gravel road between Walvis Bay at the coast and Solitaire about 15 km away from the Kuiseb Pass.

The real cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and will be determined by an official investigation.

The rolling hotel is a custom built bus in which tourists can sleep during the night. The buses accommodate 24 - 34 tourists, a driver and a tour guide. Guests travel in the front of the vehicle during the day and move to a triple berth deck in the rear of the bus or in the trailer during the night.
