Botswana: Airlink press release

PRESS RELEASE – AIRLINK JOHANNESBURG – KASANE (BOTSWANA) OPERATION

Airlink commenced a scheduled Johannesburg – Kasane (Botswana) service from 2012.
The service operates daily.
The addition of this route brought Airlink’s route network to a total of 31 destinations serviced, of which 15 are over-border destinations.
Airlink already offers daily services between Johannesburg and Maun and the opportunity to extend the number of point’s serviced between South Africa and Botswana, is extremely pleasing for Airlink.
Airlink’s believes that the opening up of the Johannesburg – Kasane route to a second carrier is of significance to the tourism industry, not only will this complement the incumbent carrier Air Botswana’s services but will also open up additional source markets to the globally renowned Chobe destination.
Airlink will operate the daily Kasane service using one of its 12 Embraer ERJ 135 37 seat regional jets.
Kasane is close to Africa’s Four Corners, where four countries almost meet:  Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.  The town lies on the south bank of the wide Chobe River which forms the border with the extreme tip of Namibia’s Caprivi Strip. Nearby a second border post serves the road into Zimbabwe which runs 70km east to Victoria Falls.
The African Safari experience is a product marketed globally. Botswana, Chobe and Zimbabwe feature a unique wildlife game viewing experience and the opportunity to extend itineraries to include Victoria Falls, is a unique add-on feature of this route.
Airlink believes that global seamless connectivity with SAA and its Star Alliance partner’s flights coupled with a wide marketing reach will contribute to significant growth in the Kasane market and looks forward with enthusiasm to playing a complementary role to the benefit of all tourism product stakeholders.
Benefits for Airlink travellers also include Voyager Miles and convenient interline connections with SAA and its international partner airlines.

Camp Chobe: "Keep Ngoma Clean" | Кемп Чобе

When Camp Chobe started 3 years ago it was a joint venture where Camp Chobe would support the local village people and conservancy and this included starting a school fund.
Every client who stays at Camp Chobe contributes to this fund, as we contribute N$5.00 per person per night to the school fund. The fund has grown the past two years since Camp Chobe opened to about N$ 30 000. We not just want to provide them with pen and paper but also other projects.
The first project was a "Keep Ngoma Clean" and took place on the 3rd December 2014.Together with the conservancy we approached the Ngoma primary school that has 360 children from Gr1-7 to arrange for this clean up day. Before we started we had a session on how and why it is important to keep our environment clean. Afterwards each child was handed a t-shirt and a black bag. The objective was to pick all rubbish from the border post where you enter Namibia and the entire Ngoma area. The day was a huge success and incentivised the Ngoma soccer team and ladies from the Red Cross to voluntary join the effort. At the end they collected more than 400 bags of rubbish. It made such a huge impact in the community that they want to get more schools involved and do another clean up in a bigger area next year June.
It was amazing to see the enthusiasm and the eagerness with which the children cleaned up and their willingness to learn about keeping their environment clean. I believe that with children we can change the world, since they have to learn to conserve it for their own future.

Namibia: Midgard Country Estate photos | Мидгард Эстейт Намибия

Midgard Country Estate is located only a 60 minute drive from Windhoek, capital of Namibia. It is an ideal family hide-away, a first or last stop for international visitors, the perfect venue for intimate meetings, team-building events or weddings.
Acquired in 1937, Carl Werner List originally farmed the 12 000 hectare estate, developing this private and intimate world into a household name in Namibia.
Today we invite our guests to enjoy the tranquillity, while marvelling at the pioneering German Settler spirit which gave birth to it all. “Midgard”, a word found in Old Norse, Middle English and High German languages, has varying meanings, but is popularly thought to mean “A paradise where the earth rises again, fertile and green, creating a protected world and a safe empire for the people”.  Contact at info@namibweb.com

News from Camp Kuzuma & photos | Кемп Кузума Ботсвана

In support of World Animal Day the management and staff of Camp Kuzuma along with children from Kazangula Village and the Botswana Defence Force proudly participated in the global Elephant and Rhino March on 4th October to end poaching.
The CK Kids  is our initiative to help look after orphans in the surrounding communities. We gathered everyone together for a very special day for all those involved - sharing a nutritious meal, interacting with the children and giving them gifts of cars, dolls, books and colouring pencils.
Camp Kuzuma had the opportunity to assist Elephants Without Borders rescue a magnificent elephant bull called Footloose who was injured when caught in a snare. The staff are keeping a watchful eye on him and he’s spending some time right at the camp’s watering hole. Contact: info@namibweb.com
