Global tourism event to be hosted in Namibia in 2015

The fifth international symposium and annual conference of the global partnership for sustainable tourism will be hosted in Namibia from 23 to 25 February 2015.
GPST (
global partnership for sustainable tourism) is an initiative under the United Nations' Environment Programme (UNEP) with purpose to introduce sustainable principles into the mainstream of global tourism.

It aims to make tourism more sustainable by affiliating with governments, destinations, enterprises and consumers in the tourism supply chain to implement projects that are innovative and transformative.

Theme of the event is "Advancing sustainable tourism: securing the legacy of our cultural and natural heritage".

Namibia tabled a bid in March this year, and in June 2014 received the green light to host the event. Germany hosted the conference last year and Morocco hosted it this year.
