Sense of Africa is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Njogu as Managing Director of Sense of Africa East Africa with effect from the 1st September 2018, replacing Martin Cook who regrettably passed away earlier this year.

Michael joined Sense of Africa in 2016 as Sales and Marketing Manager and was promoted in 2017 as deputy MD by Martin Cook as a local understudy. He has been acting MD since April 2018 and has proven himself capable and competent to manage the operation. Sense of Africa believes in a policy of promoting from within when we have suitable people and Michael has shown himself to possess all the capabilities we want and respect at Sense of Africa.

Michael brings the same vision to exceed customer expectations and a similar culture to strive for market leadership through excellent service and product delivery that is common in Sense of Africa. As a person Michael is a great team player who adds value to the regional spread of Sense of Africa, bringing new energy and new ideas. We are extremely pleased with this promotion and believe Sense of Africa will continue to flourish under his leadership.

We congratulate Michael and wish him and his team every success in growing the Sense of Africa brand in East Africa.

Note from Sense of Africa: Martin Cook

Sense of Africa

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our friend and the MD of Sense of Africa East Africa, Mr. Martin Cook. Martin was taken ill at the beginning of the year and was subsequently diagnosed with cancer. He traveled to Vietnam for treatment in April, but after a short but hard-fought battle, he passed away on Monday, 25th June 2018. His funeral was held in Vietnam on Wednesday, 27th June.
Martin was appointed to drive and oversee the Tourvest turn-around strategy for the tour operating division in East Africa. Last year, Martin indicated how proud he was of what had been achieved, having driven the rebranding of all three regions businesses to Sense of Africa and having turned the corner from loss maker to a valuable contributor. Under his leadership Sense of Africa became one of the leading DMCs in the region. In his words, this was one of his best achievements, in essence ending his career on a high note.
Martin was a friend to many and a strong leader who was an invaluable colleague, team player, mentor and partner and his presence will be sorely missed.
May his soul rest in peace.
