Seeheim Hotel arson and destruction

The Seeheim Hotel was destroyed after it was allegedly set on fire in June.


Keetmanshoop Police have arrested a woman in connection with alleged arson at Seeheim Hotel located between Keetmanshoop and Luderitz in southern Namibia. The suspected arson at Seeheim Hotel, allegedly by a former employee, happened in June this year. The investigations into the matter are continuing.

The hotel owner Elvidge Kloppers informed that the fire caused damage to property worth around 10 million Namib dollars. Damage includes hotel building constructed back in 1896. The building accommodated Schuztruppe German colonial forces and police station before it was renovated and converted to Seeheim Hotel in the late 1920s. 

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the alleged arson.
