Namibia: SWA Safaris company profile

In 2014, SWA SAFARIS celebrated its 60th anniversary thus making it the oldest established private tour operator in Namibia – family owned. The company was founded in 1954, and in those memorable years, was a pioneer of tourism in our country. One of these pioneers was Uwe Sentefol, who took over SWA SAFARIS in 1974 and was the heart of the company until his sudden and unexpected death in 2001. Today SWA SAFARIS is managed by his son Wilfried, backed up by a very experienced staff, either in the office or on the “road” (tour-guides/drivers). We are very proud to have a further family member join our innovative team, Tanja Sentefol.

In the beginning SWA SAFARIS started with camping safaris in trucks, which had been converted to carry passengers, due to the lack of accommodation. Today tourists travel in comfortable modern coaches, but we wish to make it quite clear that these are not luxury buses. The buses are specially constructed for our local roads which are mostly gravel roads, the fleet consists of VW-microbuses, MAN-  and Mercedes-Benz coaches of different sizes. All coaches are equipped with air-conditions (except 2) and sliding windows. Seating is comfortable and spacious and overnight stops take place at the best hotels, lodges, guest farms and rest camps available.

What is very important to you - and also to us - is the high standard of cleanliness maintained throughout Namibia.
Our main business is to arrange tailor-made tours especially for your clients. Our well-trained office staff will help you with the itineraries either for self-drive tours or we drive your clients through the country in one of our cars, so that they can really relax and learn a lot about our country and its people. Furthermore we offer programs for groups of all sizes, also Fly-in safaris. Tours for special interest groups e.g. for botanists, farmers or ornithologists, study tours as well as incentive tours can be arranged. We are always open for suggestions and enquiries.
Besides that, we are running scheduled tours throughout Namibia and Botswana with guaranteed departures, with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 10 participants.
Our tour guides are also drivers and all of them speak English. They will do their best to show our beautiful country where the magic heartbeat of Africa is just a stone’s throw away from a rich heritage of architecture dating back from the German era.
