Namibia: Hakusembe River Lodge - newly upgraded

The Hakusembe River Lodge, now part of the Gondwana Collection, has been upgraded and is the perfect stopover on the way into Caprivi and to the Victoria Falls.

The Lodge, situated on the south bank of the Kavango River, 16 km west of Rundu, has 10 chalets (with air-conditioning) and offers magnificent views of the river and the lush vegetation which teems with diverse birdlife.  The swimming pool invites to cool off on hot summer days and visitors can experience the river world on a boat trip and relish the enchanting atmosphere during dinner in the restaurant and with a drink at the bar.

There is also a floating chalet, built on a pontoon and furnished with a huge double bed, a corner bath and a chemical toilet. Sliding doors lead to a private deck with great views of the river.

Hakusembe also has a campsite with eight individual pitches and its main areas

include a thatched reception with a curio shop selling a range of goods, a thatched bar with a small seating area, and a separate restaurant.

The range of activities on offer from Hakusembe River Lodge includes champagne sunset cruises, fishing and bird watching boat trips, visits to a local village and water-skiing.

Cultural dancing can be arranged before or after dinner but must be booked in advance.
