Ongula Village Homestead Lodge

Built alongside an active homestead, Ongula Village Homestead Lodge is the first lodge in Namibia to introduce visitors to the authentic, traditional lifestyle of the Owambo, the largest cultural group in the country. The lodge is situated between Ondangwa and Eenhana on the M121 road.

The Lodge offer 5 luxury Rondawels (African-style round huts) accommodates 12 guests offering the luxury of home, Restaurant, Bar, TV, Mosquito Nets, Boma “Open Fire Place”, Laundry Service, Visa and Master Credit cards welcome, 5 Campsites.
4 Luxury Rondawels (traditional African style round hut) Each Rondawel uniquely decorated offers 2 Twin Beds, Private en-suite facilities (with shower only), Tea/ Coffee station, Mosquito Nets and gauze sliding doors, Enclosed veranda.
1 Family Room, offers 2 Twin Beds, 1 Double bed, Private en-suite facilities (with shower only), Tea/ Coffee station, Mosquito Nets and gauze sliding doors.

**NEW** 5 Campsites, terraced and leveled with clean sand and are easy walking distance to shared ablution facility with Shower (cold water only), toilets and wash up. Each site is equipped with electricity points, running tap water and shades.
Guests participate in the traditional chores such as pounding mahangu, open fire cooking (Traditional kitchen "Epata"), and cattle herding. Discover the art of basket weaving and clay-pot making (pottery making cave) , and other Traditional Activities.

The Oshiwambo homestead tour: Learn the set-up of a homestead and the importance of cultivating the lands (seasonal activity). While on tour, guest learn the use of many endemic trees by the Owambo people.

The Village experience or walk - close look at three different living Owambo homesteads with different set ups, yet exploring the similarities.
The Town Visit to Ondangwa and the surroundings- Nakambale Museum – A legacy from the Finnish missionaries who settled in the area in the 1800’s. Open Market – an opportunity for guests to buy Owambo souvenirs and see how the local do their trades. Ohanje Craft Centre – visit the local as they engage in making crafts from recycled materials. Onankali Mahangu paper project – a look at how local woman work and produce beautiful different crafts from Mahangu. Oshigambo river – you learn the fauna and the amazing flora and the historical activities.
