The lodge should be completed towards the end of the year.
I would like to shortly summarize the current development:
1. Strategic Location.
· The lodge is near Nkurenkuru, the capital of Kavango West Region on the B10 trunk road between Rundu and Ovamboland.
· The trunk road is newly developed and links the West and East of Namibia as well as link with Angola at Katwitwi Border post.
· The lodge will currently be the only accommodation in Kavango West.
· The lodge is located high above the flood planes in a very scenic part of the Okavango River.
· Many tour groups and tourists travelling from Etosha to Vic Falls see it as a halfway sleepover point
· Many tour groups travelling to and from Angola currently stop over. The border post is only 23 km away
2. What to Offer
· The lodge will provide a conference facility for up to 120 people. This is in big demand for the Region.
· A chapel for weddings is in planning
· The lodge will be the only place in the North of Namibia where people can see footprints in rock and fossils, etc
· Visitors will have a bird’s eye view on the Kavango River with Hippos and crocodiles patrolling the border.
· The lodge will provide restaurant and camping facilities
· Visitors can enjoy sundowners on a river boat or can take an alternative boat for tiger fishing
· Depending on the management company, spa facilities can be added. A rock swimming pool is nearly completed.
3. Buildings
· 20 luxury rooms – can accommodate disabled people
· Restaurant with bar for more than 100 people
· 10 private Camping sites each with own ablution and built-in braai
· Reception building
· Supervisors accommodation with 2 bedrooms
· Tour guide accommodation
· 2 stores
· Directors accommodation
· Workers accommodation ( 4 bedrooms with kitchen, bathroom TV room, etc)
· Own tower for telecom communication to outside world
· Borehole with bottle quality water developed and tested by Geo-hydrologist - 18 000 liter/hour capacity (90 000 liter storage)
· Electricity from grid
· 50 kVA solar electricity additional
· Irrigation and municipal standards services
· 110kVA stand by generator
